Dotted all around the Wickerman Festival site are various wood carvings including the bunny (shown above), jester and totem poles (locally crafted). Artistic Director, Sid Ambrose, uses local artists and craftsmen wherever he can and he happily told me about the local folk who had helped create various aspects of the Wickerman site. I already knew that Kirkudbright is known as the "Artists Town" and that there are many artists who live or choose to spend part of their lives there, however, I did not know that the whole region of Dumfries & Galloway is so densely populated with artists.
