Welcome To Virtual Scotland
Scotland is romance and misty mountains. Scotland will inspire, renew and relax you. It was for these reasons that tourists first started to visit Scotland, in large numbers, at the beginning of the Romantic Age. However there is more to Scotland than the cliched images of highland cows, pipers in kilts, tartan biscuit tins and the red haired football fans of the Tartan Army.
Scotland has something for everybody, the sheer variety of different ways in which you can enjoy Scotland makes it the perfect vacation destination for virtually anybody. From the tranquil mountains and glens to the delights of the wild nightlife offered by Scotland's cities the diversity is astounding.
We hope that you enjoy your visit to our site and would hope that you visit Scotland soon. You will find information about the various places to visit in Scotland in our "Visit Scotland" section and we have shown the tourist regions below. In our "About Scotland" section you will find cultural information, Scottish history and general Scottish stuff such as Scottish jokes and Scottish recipes.

I am still adding to: Wickerman Photos 2009
The Wickerman Festival 2009 was another huge success with no trouble reported and no serious injuries. This may surprise some readers but the Wickerman Festival is extremely family biased with children allowed in free. This year I witnessed another rise in the number of very young children and this is one of the best music festivals to attend if you have a young family. I will try to add as many Wickerman photos as possible this year to show how truly family friendly it really is.
This year saw a few changes, there are some every year and some remain while others are dropped. While some were upset not to see the fire juggling and piping others were thrilled to see the wonderful fireworks. Sadly it is impossible to please all the people all of the time but the Wickerman Music Festival almost manages this impossible feat.

Scotland is famous for many things but their are many things that are often attributed to "Great Britain" that are actually Scottish in origin. Of course the Bagpipes are rarely mistaken for being anything but Scottish. Together with the Kilt, highland dancing and the famous tartans Scotland has a very Celtic background and comparisons can be drawn with Ireland. Sadly, Scotland has yet to gain its' full independance from the rest of the U.K. even though the Scottish National Party has the support of luminaries such as Sean Connery.
