Sir William Hamilton - A Famous Scottish Metaphysician
Sir William Hamilton (1788 - 1856) became professor of history at Edinburgh in 1821. In the Edinburgh Review he published a critical article on Victor Cousin's philosophy and a series of pieces on German philosophy. In 1836 he became professor of logic and metaphysics at Edinburgh. Hi influence did much to make the philosophy of Immanuel Kant better known in Britain. His main works were Discussions on Pilosophy, Literature and Education (1852), and Lectures on Metaphysics and Logic, published posthumously.
