Scottish Artists:

Jack Vettriano was born is Scotland in 1951. Many people consider his work "poster art" however it remains fact that he is Scotland's most successful living artist. The Singing Butler (shown left - click to enlarge and more info) is, most probably, his most famous work to date.

James Abbott McNeill Whistler 1834 -1903. Whistler has certainly left his mark, much contoversy has been generated from speculation that he was, or knew, Jack The Ripper. Eillean Donan Castle : Used as a location in the Hollywood Blockbuster Highlander this castle (click image to view an enlargement and a bit more info) is the most photographed place in Scotland. Well worth a visit, in fact it should be considered a must. You will find more images of castles in our wallpaper section.

Hebridean Blackhouse: The photograph to the left (click to enlarge) shows a Hebridean Blackhouse which was a common site across the Isle of Harris in the Hebrides but sadly there are only a few left now and most are just ruins. Visit the Harris section of the Virtual Hebrides

Wickerman Music Festival 2007 : A small selection of photographs of the 2007 wickerman. The Wickerman Music Festival is one of the best music festivals I have ever been too! The atmosphere is extremely friendly and children dance around to the numerous tents and stages with total freedom. The adults too are known to dance around, and who could fail to, with such a massive selection of top acts and a varied selection of genres there is always something to get your toes tapping.

Eillean Glas Lighthouse: Eillean Glas Lighthouse on the Isle of Scalpay in the Western Isles is a most beautifully tranquil place to spend a summer afternoon or a days fishing off the rocks..
