The above photograph shows people walking up to view the Wickerman more closely. From this image it is possible to get a rough ideal of how large he really is but when you get up close you can really see the level of detail and how much work has gone into creating him. Alas he is like a spring flower, beautiful and yet short lived as he goes up in flames on the last night of the festival and the following year he is rebuilt slightly differently than the previous years.

It is strange to think that the actual wickerman was actually much, much larger than this. The one used in the classic film (celebrated by the music festival) contained only one person and lots of animals. However the Romans wrote than, in Scotland (only), the Wickerman was "stuffed full" of people of all ages with people hanging from his limbs. Imagine the horrific sights and sounds as the wickerman's flames whipped those contained within him.
