What can be said about Lee 'Scratch' Perry that has not been said before? Well his bling is a royal pain in the butt as it kept sending the autofocus on my camera crazy and, for an oldy, the guy fairly shifts about the stage!
Lee 'Scratch' Perry was originally listed as appearing at 6.10pm which, to my mind was a little too far down the billing for such a star, but he did not appear on stage until about 8.30/9.00pm. Initially I thought that he had pulled a fast one to get a higher billing but it would appear that he had fallen foul of the disruptions caused at all the U.K. airports that day.
Needless to say his performance was flawless but I got the general feeling that he would rather be somewhere else or that he felt the crowd was not worshipping him sufficiently. Ordinarily I would just walk away from such a gig but this guy had me hooked. Totally professional and ultra shiny he belt out a few tunes then buggered off! All a bit too short for me - but it might have been a case of "time flying when you are having fun". Nothing really beats fine reggae on a summers days and Friday really was a fine summers day - glorious.
OK so I thought he was a little pompous but, hey, this is Lee 'Scratch' Perry we are talking about !!! I certainly wouldn't have the balls to pull him up about it :-O As I said earlier I had serious problems getting photographs of the dude but I managed to get a few, only one of the pics shown below really suffers from the effects of bling but I thought it was worth putting up here anyway.
