I seem to remember reading an article about the Wickerman and how the region which is now Dumfries and Galloway was the only place where humans were burned in the Wickerman. Apparently they were "stuffed" into compartments inside the man made of wicker rather unceremoniously and limbs could be seen sticking out here there and everywhere. I am happy to report that the Wickerman at the Wickerman Festival is purely artistic and no creatures are harmed during the annual burning.
