Abercrombie Family Tartan (click to enlarge)

The Abercrombie family tartan is a symetrical tartan. First mentioned in a pattern book of William Wilson & Sons of Bannockburn c. 1831, it was produced in various colours. Available with yellow, red, with a white stripe (known as Menteith district tartan) and the 1831 version that could be described as Black Watch with white with black tramlines in the blue ground colour.

The Abercrombie family takes its name from the lands of Abercrombie ("beyond the bend") of Fifeness. The head of the family is represented by the Abercrombies of Birkenbog.
