The Armstrong Clan tartan is a symetrical tartan. The Armstrong tartan is a traditional design of green, black and blue with a single red stripe on the blue. Armstrongs claim descent from Fairbairn, armour bearer to an ancient king of Scotland, who granted him land in the Borders. The first gathering of Armstrongs for 400 years was held at Tourneyholm in Liddesdale in 1979.
